Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT)
  • Constraint Induced Movement Therapy is an evidence based treatment approach used for patients, who have difficulty using one arm or have strong preference to use on arm over the other.
  • The root cause for the difficulty using one arm could be deficits in Range of Motion, strength, sensations or coordination making it difficult to use both arms for activities like riding a bike, opening a jar, throwing a big ball, eating with fork and knife, crawling, drinking from a open cup, carrying own lunch or dinner plate.
  • Children with following conditions can benefit from CIMT including but not limited:
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Brachial Plexus Injury
  • Traumatic Brain Injury
  • Hemiparesis
  • Childhood stroke
  • Other childhood neurological conditions
